Getting a docket signed

Getting somebody's signature for the day's work, right there on your phone.

A docket is a client's confirmation that the work was done — no prices, just the hours and what was used. This is how to get one signed on your phone.

Raising it

Press Get this signed, then set From and ToAn hour's visit or a whole week.

The rows under What they are signing for are read-only here — they are gathered from what has already been recorded, not something you type in. It shows no prices at all: rates are between your office and the client, and belong on the invoice, not on a page somebody signs on site.

Signing

  1. Put their name in Signed by — it may already be filled in from the last docket on this project.
  2. Add Their email if you want them to get a copy. It is optional.
  3. Get them to sign in the box, then press Sign.

With no signal

Signing works with no reception. It is stored on your phone as Waiting to send until it reaches the office. Once it does, and if you gave an email, a copy is sent to the signer as soon as your phone next has reception — you will see a message confirming it went, or that it is stored but the copy has not gone yet.

If the office doesn't accept it

Occasionally a docket comes back marked Not accepted by the office — usually because some of the work on it has changed since you raised it, or it is already on another docket. Tell the office before you discard it — they can see what has been signed and raise what is left.

If the office had raised an unsigned draft over the same work, yours takes over instead — your signature is not lost. That can only happen after a stretch with no signal: a phone that has already synced won't offer you work that is already on an office docket.

Discard on a refused docket only clears it from your phone; it never sends anything.
